As an apprentice, you will get to wok full time alongside quality tradespeople, whilst learning the Fitting and Turning trade. A unique opportunity for locals to complete their Certificate 1 in Construction during a 14-week course. The course is fully funded, which means that not only you won't need to pay for participation, but you will actually be paid an apprentice wage*. (*Between $13.85 and $23.38 per hour. Wages for apprentices are determined by age and highest school year level completed.) The aim of this program is to get your foot in the door in the construction industry. On course completion we will connect you with local employers to enable you to apply for an apprenticeship and continue your career in the construction industry.  COURSE SCHEDULE Commencement: 31 January, 2022.  The course will be a combination of training and practical, on-site learning. Week 1 – training at Skill360 Trade Training Centre (white card, WHS, basic tools etc.)  Weeks 2 – 10 – on the job placement, 4-days per week with one day off the job training at Skill360.  Week 11 – off the job training to include life skills such as personal financial management, proper nutrition/cooking, resume creation and identification of preferred trade pathways. Weeks 12-14 – Continue on the job learning while being provided support into continuing your apprenticeship with a local employer. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM?  You must not already hold a Certificate I or higher in Construction. Use the following equipment:  oxy and other welding equipment, oxy/gas cutting equipment (straight line, profile, multihead), rollers, metal forming and shaping machines, marking out tables, friction saws, grinders (hand and pedestal), air arc gouges and a range of portable hand tools.
